Sabine McAllister
Head of Business Development & Compliance
Sabine joined Congo Initiative - UK in June 2025 and comes with extensive knowledge in compliance, policy writing, project and partner management as well as proposal writing.
Sabine met her husband David in Bible school in France and soon after (1982) moved to what was then called Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo). There David and Sabine raised four children Daniel, Philip, Patrick and Christina.
While the children were small Sabine worked from home using her translation diploma to translate medical books for WHO. After this, Sabine worked once again in the DRC with Tearfund, providing compliance support to the local national office, safeguarding training and support to staff and partners as well as helping Tearfund partners develop key compliance tools.
During her ten years with Tearfund, Sabine has developed deep relationships with UCBC and has been able to see the amazing transformative work they do with young people and specifically young abused women. Now living in Northern Ireland Sabine is delighted to, once again, be working with brothers and sisters in the Congo.
"My hope is that together we can support UCBC and those who have decided to be " way makers", challenging what is the norm in a devastated country and introducing the hope of God."
"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." 2 Corinthians 4: 8,9
